Thanks to Community Education, he now calls her Teacher. Karla came to the United States from Peru. At Robbinsdale Area Community Education, she learned how to speak English. Now she tutors children at her son's school. Who knows, maybe some day he'll also call her Mother of the President. News & Events
- Community Volunteers provided more than 18,000 service hours to the district this year; they were recognized at a breakfast on May 18. Volunteers in Partnership is the new name of the Community Education program that provides volunteer placement for the district. Program's ELL and basic skills students Representatives from New Hope, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Brooklyn Center, and Plymouth presented information about their various community services. - Summer Activities will be held at Forest Elementary for grades K-4 (8:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Cooper High School for grades 5-8 (8:40 am to 12:40 pm) M-F during the weeks of June 15-19, June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17. - Adult Academic Program (ALC, GED/Basic Skills, ESL) - Winnetka classes and office open June 9 through July 16, T & Th, 8:30 am-2:30 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm; GED Testing Center Tuesdays only. Fall classes resume on Tuesday, September 8. - Adventure Club - New Hope office open M-F, 7:30 am to 4 pm; Summer Sites open 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. - Community Education Administration - Winnetka office open M-F, 8 am to 4:30 pm. - Community Schools & Partnerships/Facilities - New Hope office open M-Th, 7:30 am to 4 pm. - ECFE office at Cavanagh opens Wednesdays only during June. Office reopens Aug 3. - Discover U Youth Programs & Adult Enrichment (formerly Lifelong Learning for Youth and Adults) at Winnetka open 7:30 am to 4 pm. (Office closed June 29- July 3)
